Catching up, 4: "Pins," hell! They're spikes!

I had foot surgery (again!) on December 16. Now, almost 7 months later, I'm doing well, but the recovery was certainly much slower and much more uncomfortable than I expected. Enough said. I just want to forget the whole experience, especially the "pins" that the surgeon used to hold my toes in alignment while the bones mended.
